Memory Tests

Hey everyone! Today, we will take some memory tests.  The first test I took was the short-term memory test and I got a 9 out of 12. This was way higher than I expected. Most of the words that I remembered were at the end of the list. This leads me to believe that this test was not very valid in testing how good one's short-term memory is.  After that, I took the memory test for faces. I got 9 out of 10 of the parts correct. I was surprised because of how accurate I ended up being, but it made sense to me. I imagined and remembered the different parts of the face and really memorized them. I believe that the test is valid because we pick the different features ourselves, and we have to memorize each piece of it. This analyzes memorizing the different parts of the face as opposed to the face in general.  In terms of problem solving, I got a 63 out of 100. This means that I am 63% creative when it comes to problem solving. I usually like to first try the methods that have be...

Social Psychology

Compliance is when someone conforms to a request or demand of some sort. If someone is in the movie theater and they do not sneak in snacks, they would be in compliance with the rules that are in the movie theater. They are complying with the rules to ensure that this experience is easier for everyone including themselves. Obedience is compliance with an order or request. People may be instructed on where they should go once checking into the place and to see where to watch the movie. They are following and obeying what the workers are telling them to ensure that they watch the right movie.  Social facilitation is when the presence of other people leads to one to perform better. For example, someone may feel nervous talking to the workers at the desk because of the idea of talking to someone new. But with a group of people, they may not feel nervous and may feel relaxed to talk to someone new.  Group polarization is the tendency of a group to make decisions that are more extre...

Hey guys! Today, we're going to talk about learning and one specific type of it. There are two types of learning which are operant conditioning and classical conditioning. The main difference between the two is that operant conditioning is done on voluntary actions, whereas classical conditioning is done on involuntary movements. We will be talking about classical conditioning today! In classical conditioning, there are five key elements: neutral stimulus, unconditioned stimulus, conditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, and conditioned response. A neutral stimulus is one that does not elicit a response from the individual. It is often paired with the unconditioned stimulus to create the conditioned stimulus. The unconditioned stimulus already generates a response in the individual but pairing it with the neutral stimulus makes it conditioned. The unconditioned response is the response the individual has automatically. The conditioned response is the behavior that is taught fro...

Sense of Smell

Image
Hey guys! This week we will be talking about our sense of smell! Our sense of smell enhances our experiences. It also plays a crucial role in our health! Being able to pick up scents allows one to identify danger and potential life-threatening things that can help prevent our bodies from ingesting it. Our ability to smell additionally tells us a lot of things about the health of an individual and can be used as a symptom indicating serious problems in a person. Its the most mysterious sense out of all of our senses. There's not much that is known about it compared to the other senses! https://newsinhealth.nih.gov/2016/08/what-your-nose-knows

Super Hero

Image
My birthday is on September 10, so my hero has powers relating to the temporal lobe and endorphins. Earler is a superhero with the extensive ability to hear up to 10 miles away from where she is. She also has the ability to sustain pain and not feel it for a long period of time as well as share that ability with someone else for as long as she wishes for.  Earler grew up with parents that greatly cared about her health and tried to protect her from all harm. The main thing her father did was prevent any loud sounds from persisting for long periods of time to protect her ear from potential damage. He also often explained to her the importance of the different devices she used and how the noise could affect her ears. Earler had exceptional hearing abilities and was often commended in school for that. Her mother would give her multiple vitamins starting from an early age to help her grow strong and healthy to prevent her from suffering much in the case of an accident.  One day, E...

My Life Story

Image
Hi everyone! Today, I'll be talking a bit about my life so far along with what I think my future will look like! I was born in Tennessee on September 10, 2004. I moved to Houston when I was 6 months old and have lived here ever since.  My first steps were taken when I was less than a year old (my parents told me I started walking early on). The first word I spoke was "ma." I took art classes as well, but that did not stick with me. I started dancing early on and taking official dance lessons and I have been dancing ever since! Elementary school was a breeze and the most enjoyable part of my life. I spent my days playing around with my friends and not caring about other aspects of life. From there, I entered middle school. My friends from elementary school were separated as we all head in different directions.  Middle school was when I met some of my closest friends! It was undeniably a rollercoaster with high ups and high lows, but it was still a fun time period! I met so...
